“Just as sweetness cannot be separated from honey , just as beauty cannot be separated from a rainbow , Onam cannot be separated from a malayali’s heart”. Onam the harvest festival of Kerala was celebrated at Pallotti Hill Public School on Friday 13th September 2024 by the management , staff and students. Children brightened the campus with their colourful ethnic wear in the traditional attire of Kerala. ‘Oonjaal ‘ was set to welcome our dear children for the much awaited Onam celebrations. Pallotti Hill Public School students , staff and management came together and celebrated the beautiful festival at school with all pomp and festivity. The festival of Onam is dedicated to the King ‘ Mahabali ‘who sacrificed himself along with his Kingdom in order to stand true to his words. ‘ The flower Rangoli ‘ – ‘ Pookalam ‘ was a collaborative activity of children and staff members of the school . The huge colorful flower carpet adorned the portico of the school campus , symbolising peace and serenity in the world , economic well – being and resource sharing , love and brotherhood , human justice and conservation of nature. Pallotti Hill Public School witnessed opulent Onam celebrations. Different games were conducted for children from K G to grade 10. Cultural programs started by 10:30 with a prayer song. The main attractions of the program were onappattu , speech , dance by different grade students and Thiruvathirakali by grade 9 boys. Principal , Rev. Fr. Vipin Augusty Thadathil, addressed the gathering and conveyed greetings and wishes of the festival. PTA President A.P. Muralidharan Master delivered the key note address and conveyed his Onam wishes to everyone. The arrival of Mahabali amid the beats of dance was well received by the audience. Tug – of – war competition for children heightened the gathering. The traditional ‘Onasadya ‘ ,comprised more than 15 side dishes and payasam served on banana leaves was the main attraction of the day.The onam festivities have drawn to a close by 2:30 pm.
